I can’t pinpoint at what age I decided, “Hey, you’re pretty good with words and kind of funny. You should be a writer!”
I still don’t truly consider myself one, despite how many pieces I’ve published. Year after year, I tell myself, “This is it! This is the year you’re going to sit down and punch out that book!” Then life happens, and I end up not writing for months. Hopefully this combats that.
Despite currently being a Southerner, I was born and raised in and around New York City and Manhattan lives in my blood. Much of my work is based on my time there, my experiences, stories, and love/hate relationship with the place where I grew up.
My philosophy on life is that it’s ending one day at a time. And if you don’t invite the world in to greet you in every way possible, there’s a lot you’ll end up missing. With that in mind, I very seldom say "No" when it comes to trying something new or inviting in the eye of insanity. Life is just more entertaining that way, and that’s how I walk away from it with so many insane and funny stories.
I’m John, this is life (& something like it).
